    Description

    This is a beautiful late 1930's new old stock sterling silver 3 piece dresser set in its original presentation box. This set came from the stock of a country store that opened in the 1890's and shut its doors in the mid 1960's.  The storage space of this store was still filled with unsold items that ranged right back to the turn of the century. We believe this set was a display item and that you would order yours from a catalog and pick it up at the store. It is an oversized set with the beveled mirror measuring 16 inches long by 6 inches wide! I've never handled a larger one. The brush is so clean and unused you'd think it's proof of time travel. The tortoise shell pattern comb is in perfect condition. Because it was a display set it is un monogrammed. The silver (well over 0 just in melt) is expertly chased and the engraving, again because of the fact that it was never used, is some of the best that I've ever seen, incredibly crisp because it hasn't been repeatedly polished and handled. I have been dealing for over 25 years and have never seen a set this good. The display box is lined with a midnight blue velvet and looks like the day it was made while the outside is a little worse for the wear (not too bad tho for almost 90 years old) the only condition issue is a small, not obvious, ding on the back of the brush. This IA a one in a million set and I'm quite certain that I will never see another in this unbelievable like new condition.
