The helmet ZSH-1-2M is made by CJSC NPP Klass specialising in production of means of armour protection. Was adopted by the arming of bodies of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation government decree №731 dated 15.10.2001 year. The name of the helmet model implies that it is modified and has a 2nd class of protection.
The helmet is designed to protect the fighter's head from pistol cartridges of the second class of protection and fragments of 1 gram and a diameter of 6.35 mm flying up to 750 m/s. The helmet has a visor made of two layers of strong glass of the first class of protection designed to prevent bullets from hitting the Makarovna or TT pistol. Unlike their army counterparts, ear protection is provided, which is a plus and a minus, as the audibility decreases.
The helmet ZSH-1-2M consists of a strong aluminum alloy, covered from the inside with aramid fabrics, which does not allow to break through the protection and absorbs the dynamic impact of a bullet or falcons. The ZSH-1-2 helmet is equipped with a removable zippered barmitsa (a skirt covering the back of the neck) to protect against small fragments and stones. When hit by a bullet, a person does not receive a concussion or injury. The helmet is available in two sizes: 1st 54-60 cm and 2nd size 58-64 cm. In the helmet, it is possible to shoot from the "lying" position. The helmet can be used together with a gas mask. The temperature range of the helmet is from minus 40 to plus 40 degrees Celsius. The internal straps are conveniently adjusted to the size of the fighter. At the request of the customer's helmet, radio-activated communication helmets can be manufactured under the ZSH-1-2MR index. The helmet is equipped with a protective carrying case, a bag-cover for the helmet, a protective cover for the glass.
The helmet consists of a protective frame made of aluminum alloy and an aramid sublayer, a suspension system with a neck rest made of genuine leather, a bullet-resistant visor and a removable barmica to protect the neck. The barmitsa is fastened by means of a zipper.
The protective frame of the helmet protects the head from bullets of TT pistols of 7.62 mm caliber, PSM pistol of 5.45 mm caliber from a distance of 5 m ( 2 class of protection according to GOST R 50744), as well as from fragments, the penetration ability of which is equivalent to the penetration ability of a steel ball with a diameter of 6.35 mm, weighing 1.03 g at a speed of V50% > 750 m/s. Bullet-resistant polycarbonate visor protects the face of a person from bullets of a 9 mm PM pistol from a distance of 5 m.
It retains its protective characteristics and performance in the range of ambient temperatures from minus 40 to plus 40°C, as well as when exposed to moisture (rain, sleet, etc.).
The design of the helmet ensures the installation of a radio headset under a wearable radio station and its use with respiratory protection.
The ZSH-1-2M helmet is available in two sizes, the 1st size - from 54 to 60 head size, the 2nd size - from 58 to 64 head size. Individual and point-to-point adjustment to the size of the head is carried out by means of a suspension system.
