Item Description:
These security appliances have a known Cisco SOFTWARE (NOT HARDWARE) bug below. New IOS version would also be a workaround.
Cisco Bug: CSCvj40480
Symptom:
An ASA may crash out of the box every time the "write erase" command is issued.
Conditions:
This has been seen when running ASA code 9.4 or later, and
appears to happen when the firewall is brand-new out of the box.
This issue is seen when using "write erase" command on ASA5506/5508/5516 platform.
Workaround:
Instead of "write erase" command, use "clear config all", then save config by "write memory" command.
All of these have the above "bug". Should be fine in a production environment.
