Description
2X Pieces VXP High RPM Ignition Timing Advance/Retard Woodruff Key.The debate is out there in the forum - do you advance or retard your ignition timing
For Advance
The higher the RPM the more advance you need ,at 9000 rpm on my small block I r
un 44 degrees total! If not my spark would be after top dead center because the piston speed at high rpm is faster then the spark at the plug and the initial burn; The combustion also needs time to expand in the cylinder to push the piston down if you don't advance enough the piston would be already going down the cylinder before the combustion hits the piston dome and you lose power! Thats a simplified explanation
For Retard
I hear about guys doing this all the time, but I wonder WHY. On the dyno, the engine will always make the most HP with more timing. Usually, it will pickup a few lbs of torque when you retard it two degrees from best HP setting. I have guys tell me their car runs faster when they do it, but that means it was too far advanced all along.
Selling 2 pieces per order
Note -
due to different brands and make of crankshaft - you will need to sand it down to fit your crankshaft and also you might need to file the keyway of the flywheel ( Aluminium so that is easy )
